You know which letters must appear in the word, but you don’t know their order or the full set. This tool is for that exact situation: you enter the required letters, and it finds all words that contain them, no matter where they fall. Perfect for crossword clues, word games, or when you’ve spotted a pattern on the board.
Enter required letters, get matches
Type the letters that must be in the word. The tool will return all dictionary words that contain every one of those letters. If you have optional letters too, add them in a separate field - the tool will prioritize words that use them.
Add length and position filters
If you know the word is 7 letters long, set that. If a required letter is in a specific position (like the first or last), use the starts-with or ends-with filter. The more you know, the faster you’ll get a usable list.
Exclude letters you don’t want
If you’ve already ruled out certain letters, add them to the exclude field. The tool will remove any word that contains those letters. This is especially helpful when you’re working with a limited set of possibilities.
Use wildcards for unknown letters
If you have a blank tile or an unknown letter, use ? in the required or optional fields. The tool will treat it as a placeholder for any single letter. Combine this with length filters to keep the list manageable.
Pattern search example
If you already know positions, switch from a loose required-letter search to a pattern search. Required letters answer "must appear somewhere"; a pattern answers "must appear here."
