You know some letters but not their exact positions. Or you have a pattern like “?A?E?” and need to fill in the blanks. This finder is built for that: enter the pattern, include or exclude letters, and get a list of matching five-letter words.
Pattern matching
Use question marks for unknown positions. For example, “?A?E?” finds all five-letter words with A in position 2 and E in position 4. You can combine this with other filters for precision.
Include and exclude letters
Add letters that must appear somewhere in the word (yellow letters) and letters that cannot appear (gray letters). The finder will respect both constraints.
Start and end filters
Need a word that starts with “ST” or ends with “ING”? Use the starts-with and ends-with fields. These work together with other filters, so you can narrow down fast.
Copy the list
Once you have your results, click the copy button to copy the visible list. Paste it into your game, document, or notes. No ads, no distractions.
Why this is not a solver
This is a finder, not a solver. It doesn’t rank words by strategy or suggest the best next guess. It simply returns all valid five-letter words that match your criteria. Use it when you want to explore possibilities, not when you need a single answer.
Wordle-style example
After a guess like CRANE, enter confirmed green letters in the pattern, put yellow letters in contains, and put gray letters in exclude. Do not judge the list until all three signals are entered.
Choose the right word tool
Use this page when your clue information comes from previous guesses: green letters, yellow letters, and excluded gray letters. If you only have loose letters with no positions, an unscrambler or word finder is a better fit.
Common Questions
How do I use a Wordle solver?
Enter your known letters into the position boxes, misplaced letters into the yellow field, and excluded letters into the gray field. Hit search and review the filtered results.
What is the best next Wordle guess?
A good next guess uses common letters and avoids letters already ruled out. The finder doesn’t rank words, but you can manually pick words with high-frequency letters like E, A, R, I, O, T, N, S, L, C.
Can Wordle answers have repeated letters?
Yes. Words like “PUPIL” or “MAMMA” are valid. Make sure the finder’s duplicate setting matches your puzzle. If you’ve seen a letter twice in the feedback, enable repeats.
What do green, yellow, and gray mean?
Green means the letter is correct and in the right position. Yellow means the letter is in the word but in a different position. Gray means the letter is not in the word at all.
How can I get hints without seeing the answer?
If you want a hint instead of a full answer, use the result list lightly: look for repeated patterns, likely vowels, or a possible ending without copying the first word.
Before your next guess
Before you use a candidate as your next guess, compare it against every clue from previous guesses. A word that fits the length can still be wrong if it reuses a gray letter or puts a yellow letter back in the same position.
